Geocache Description:

Combined Autumn Picnic, Camping and 4WD Weekend. Everyone is welcome, INCLUDING 2WD.
(although no Commodores).

--- UHF CHANNEL 15 ---

Saturday 20 May: After setting up camp at Peach Trees, we will be doing a 4WD trip around the Kenilworth forests. This is a relatively easy drive but some interesting climbs and a few creek crossings. We will then return to camp for a sundowner.

Sunday 21 May: We will have a short drive after breakfast, then return in time for the picnic. There will be a cache setup for Sunday.

This weekend will be held at Peach Trees, near Jimna. [see map below]

Please don't be put off coming on Saturday if you don't have a 4WD as passengers are welcome, and it is more about the social side than the 4WD aspect. Definitely come for the camping and Picnic even if 4WD is not your thing.

Have a look at the pictures from the last trip in the gallery [ here]

Peach Trees is a beautiful shady campsite on the side of Yabba Creek, inhabited by Grey Kangaroos which graze amongst the tents. There are toilets and coin operated hot showers on the site. The site is suitable for trailers and caravans as well as tents.

If you are lucky you can catch a glimpse of the elusive Platypus in the creek, those who are willing to get up early stand the best chance. There is, also plenty of birdlife around the site in the daytime.

Campsite access is by 2WD, along the Kilcoy Murgon road, about 1km past Jimna. The site is clearly signposted. If you reach the Fire Tower, you have gone about 100m too far.

Permits:
ALL 4WD'ers WILL NEED PERMIT TO TRAVERSE. These are FREE and can be obtained from the Kenilworth forestry office. The applications can be faxed through to the office. Please ensure this is done in advance as they can take a while to get back to you. If you need help with sorting out your permit, please contact me. I can email you the application form.

Permits will be checked before departure!
