This cache is located just off an obscure trail on the Sonoma State University campus.
I love visiting the campus by bike, whenever I am just tooting around town on the trailways. (Did you know that Rohnert Park is one of the few "bicycle friendly" towns in the state? City ordinance allows for riding on the sidewalk, and the town was developed with a labrynyth of trails and walkways to support non-vehicular movement.)
I found this trail by accident a number of years ago, and now have to ride it whenever I am on campus.
As noted in one of the logs, this is a trials style trail if on bike. You can park at the berm and walk if you are not used to mountain bike trails.
You can bring a lunch and picnic on the knoll, possibly taking in a few innings, or head out the gate and along Petaluma Hill rd to Roberts road, and up to Crane Creek Regional park to make a day of it.
The cache is located off the main trail, five feet or so towards Petaluma Hill rd. The coordinates are gonna be iffy due to the tree cover.
The cache is a 1 qt round tupperware style container, and the original contents were:
A cool laid back pig
A pirate
A sandstone
A geocaching pin
A Lizzard
A Cowabunga ball.
I encourage you to not to bring the car, bike in instead, and around to the growing number of caches now on campus. Be sure and walk the creek trail with visits to the "Lakes" and the butterfly garden. Also, take a tour of the Shultz center. Other cool caches around these locations, and others.
If you must make it a drive-up, there are a few 45 minute spots by the tennis courts, 38.20.473N, 122.40.122W, but you need to come in the maintainence entrance from Petaluma Hill rd.
