Geocache Description:

This cache is all about the view! I highly recommend bringing along a pair of binoculars when visiting this cache.

PLACEMENT OF STAGE I HAS BEEN APPROVED BY RAMSEY COUNTY PARKS.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first noticed the huge bald eagle's nest at Keller Lake, built right next to a very busy highway. The comeback of this majestic bird is a testament to the success of targeted conservation efforts on its behalf.

Suggested parking is at the Spoon Lake picnic area (see waypoint below). If you and/or your kids like to fish from shore, you may want to bring your tackle, and perhaps a picnic lunch. This is a family-friendly area.

The starting point of this multi-cache is located at a public area that’s been set aside by Ramsey County for stellar views of the bald eagle’s nest. You can’t miss the sign that designates this area for eagle-watching. Stealth may be necessary on the first leg if there are people here when you visit.

Cast your gaze across the highway-- you’ll see the huge nest built in the tallest of a group of trees, set amidst the dead branches near the top. I am just amazed that bald eagles would build a nest there!

The first stage is a micro, about the size of a 35 mm film canister. Inside is a label with the coordinates for the last stage - a small, Rubbermaid-type container located nearby in an islet of nature set amidst the clamoring clatter of modern life.

Happy hunting!
