Raymond Hamilton was an early member of the Barrow Gang and was involved in the killing of Deputy Sheriff Eugene C. Moore at a dancehall in Stringtown, Oklahoma.
Hamilton was later arrested and serving time here in Texas when Clyde, along with James Mullens, broke Hamilton and Joe Palmer out of the Eastham Prison Farm near Huntsville, killing prison guard Major Joseph Crowson in the escape.
Eventually, Ray Hamilton broke off his ties with the Barrow gang. Bonnie and Clyde were content with the small robberies that sustained their daily survival. Ray, however, had visions of greater wealth and big bank jobs, and wasn't satisfied with the small take from filling station hold-ups.
On April 25, 1934, the First National Bank of Lewisville, Texas, was the target for robbers Ray Hamilton and Ted Brooks. Law officers chased the outlaws to the town of Howe, where they were captured.
Hamilton and Joe Palmer were both sentenced to die in the electric chair for the slaying of prison guard Crowson in the Eastham prison break. Their day finally came on May 10, 1935.
This is the old Elmgrove Memorial Park; it has been forgotten for many years. While looking for this cache, you might see Larry. He is a resident of the cemetery and caretaker of the cache!
The cache is located about 50 feet north of the final resting place of Raymond Hamilton. Like a few of the other Barrow Gang, Hamilton's original headstone was stolen and it has since been replaced.
You're looking for a camo'd bison tube. BYOP.
