Geocache Description:

Officer Ronnie "Animal" Lerma died the line of duty on September 21, 1998

Ronnie was a Garland Police Officer, call number 1711 and worked in the Traffic Division as a motorcycle officer.

The traffic officers have a custom of giving everyone that comes into the unit a nick name, and Ronnie became known as "Animal".

Officer Lerma had stopped a vehicle for speeding and was standing next to his motorcycle on LBJ Freeway. A speeding van pulled onto the shoulder and struck him, throwing him down the highway. The van also struck the vehicle which Officer Lerma had pulled over, pushing it into oncoming traffic and killing the driver.

Officer Lerma is survived by his wife and two children.

At the location you will find the final resting place for Ronnie "Animal" Lerma.
