Dr. Evil's Paridise Island Lair Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dr. Evil 1: Thanks for finding the cache everyone. Those two year permits expire so fast it seems like just yesterday when Kaiser family canoed out there on he first day it published to score the FTF. Alas the cache has run it's course, but if anyone else is interested in placing one there, the manager of Beaver Island State park seems cool with the whole caching thing, and I already broke him in for you.

Happy trails ~DrE

Geocache Description:

Easy find in a hard to reach location.

Welcome to Dr. Evil's Island Paridise Lair. This is where Dr. Evil spends his summer months relaxing. Please do not attempt to swim to this island, because the mighty Niagara is not a toy. It can kill you, and it feels no remorse. This is a basic GIANT ammo can. All you will need to find it is a GPS'r, and a boat or PWC.

CAUTIONS: 1)The river can be very shallow to the northwest of the island (as little as 1 foot), If you plan to approach from that side be prepared to raise your prop, and paddle, or hop out and push. If you have a jet boat or PWC then you're all set.
2) During early spring there are Canadian Geese nesting all over the ground please avoid disturbing them, and don't tamper with thier eggs/nests.
3) The plant life is very delicate because the island is mainly sand. There is no need to walk across any delicate plant life to get to the cache. The cache is near the edge of the island please approach from the shore, not from the interior.
4) In late fall do not dress like a duck. You may get shot by hunters.

I have permission from the state parks office for this placement, so please follow all the rules posted on the signs. Do not give them reason to revoke the permit.

If you like birdwatching bring your binos/camera. There are several intresting species of birds, who nest in the trees, or fish in the surrounding waters. If you have a small boat you can push or paddle it into the secluded lagoon in the center of the island. It is 12 feet deep in the center and is protected from the high swells that usually occur in the river in the mid-summer months.

Enjoy the cache, enjoy the view, and enjoy the beach. Most of the time you will have the whole beach to yourself.
Camping is not allowed, but there are no posted hours so it it is a great place to relax on those warm summer nights.

NYS OPRHP Permit # 06-02-BI

Congratulations Kaiser Family, I never expected a FTF on the first day published for this one. Way to go! And thank you, for the Easter pictures.
