A caching event near Westlake Domain to discuss and enjoy some geocaching. Given that it is winter and travelling long distances may be difficult we need to keep the geocaching fires burning.We will also need to pass on SilverMarcs GeoEvent Coin.
Sunday June 4, 2006, 12noon (BYO Lunch and socialising),1.30pm treasure hunt. (Parking can be found on the side of the road near S43 34.098 E172 33.080.
Whilst the main purpose is to catch up and share stories, feel free to bring along a friend to introduce them to the world of geocaching.The theme is Christmas so we've added a treasure hunt just to keep things interesting. BYO Lunch. For all those who want a white (winter)Christmas this may be the nearest we will get.
The event will take place regardless of weather conditions but there will be shelter and hot soup and Christmas cake available. Dress according to the weather conditions.
To participate in the treasure hunt(Christmas Theme)you are required to set a treasure for someone else to find using GPS co-ordinates. All treaures must be hidden before 1:00pm with the co-ords written on a sheet of paper(a seperate sheet for each treasure).
At 1.30pm the bits of paper with the coordinates will be placed in a hat and cachers will draw a treasure for each participant to hunt. Please ensure you set a treasure for each member of your party (so that kids,adults,and visitors all get the opportunity to search. All caches must be set in child friendly locations and within 1 kilometre of the co-ordinates of this cache.
Note you do not have to participate in the hunt to log this cache. You are welcome just to come and socialise.
Conton will be leaving for New Orleans via Los Angeles on the 5 June so if you want to set off some travel bugs or coins or just send the ones you may have on an overseas journey feel free to bring them to the event.
