Geocache Description:

Come and join the SoCal 4x4 Geocachers as we campout in Red Rock Canyon State Park in Ricardo Campground on Saturday April 29, 2006 from 7pm until the campfire goes out.

The plan is to leave camp at 8am each morning. Saturday will be a full day with lunch on the trail. Sunday plan for lunch on the trail but we hope to be back in the campground in the mid afternoon to break camp and head home. Logistics: * There is a gas station about a mile down the road to California City. It's a little closer than the stations in Mojave. * The Jawbone Canyon Store on Hwy. 14 has a couple gas pumps; they are open during daylight hours only. * There is also a gas station in Johannesburg. I plan on bringing two 5 gallon gas cans. Campground is first-come, first-served, NO RESERVATIONS. Some of us will arrive Friday night, most likely later in the evening. We will hang our banner! Campground fee is $12/night, pit toilets, potable water, fire rings and picnic tables. One word about our caching style...We are not necessarily about the numbers. Our goal is to explore a new area, see some beautiful scenery, spend some time with friends and grab some caches along the way. I hope to see you there!!!

For those who have never done the Burro Schmidt caches, remember to bring a GOOD headlamp or flashlight with FRESH batteries for EACH person in your group.

As with any adventures in the desert, please come prepared. Average temps in Red Rock canyon SP in April are in the mid-80s to mid-90s during the day and low 50s at night. You should have at least 1gal of water per person, per day. Never travel alone.
