Geocache Description:

Cammouflaged ammo can hidden in woods

Havens Park is 65 acres of trees, trails and paths. The City acquired ten acres in 1949 and the remaining 55 acres were donated to the City by the Anthony family to honor Mrs. Anthony's family, the Havens. Havens Park features a driving and walking area and bicycle trails. The park is now used for walking, dog exercise, and bicycle-cross. There are many beautiful Redbud trees and nice views to be discovered. Unfortunately, the park was not used very much in the past and some inconsiderate parties have decided to take advantage of this for some dumping. Consequently, there is plenty of opportunity for CITO credit. Some areas do have broken glass scattered about. This is a park with great potential and as use increases, so will improvements. Rumors have been started that there may be Bogies (pronounced like in boogy woogy) in the park.

According to an article written by Micha F. Lindemans (visit link) Bogies are mischievous but harmless spirits who live in darkness and semi-darkness. They can be found in cellars, attics, stumps, caves, besides other places (caches?). Although they try to move with stealth, their clumsiness betrays their presence with thumps, creaks and scuffles. They amuse themselves by hovering behind a person's back creating a vague uneasiness. Also they like to spy on people and listen to their conversations. Don’t be surprised if you see one lurking near the cache. If you do find one, he may be willing to offer some help. Then again, he may not.

The cache, a small camouflaged ammo can. It has been moved and will now require a bit more bushwhacking. The cache is in a position that is a bit tougher to approach especially if the ground is wet or snowy. The Bogie will be watching so if you slip, you may hear him laugh. If you see him, please leave him in his spot. Parking is not far away to either the east or west. Please don’t park on the grass.

There is to need to go on any private property to get to this cache.

Leavenworth parks are open only from daylight until 10:00 PM.

CAUTION: JANUARY 1ST TO JANUARY 31ST THIS PARK MAY BE OPEN FOR HUNTING AS PART OF A DEER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM. BRIGHT CLOTHING OR HUNTING ORANGE CLOTHING ARE RECOMMENDED.

****If you found this cache before 15 January 2012, you are invited to look again for another find.*****
