Geocache Description:

"Mt. Zion Cemetery" a.k.a. "Frost Cemetery" is located in Greenup County about 2 miles east of South Shore off US 23...

Once known as Mt. Zion because of the Methodist Church established here in 1820- the name was changed to Frost in 1888 when Benjamin King established the first post office...Because there was another Mt. Zion, he suggested the names of Rain, Hail, Snow, and Frost... The first school was replaced in 1820 and another room was added in 1921 when enrollment reached 100...

Some of this area's founding settlers rest in peace here...The Gammon Family came to the area in 1799 from Virginia...Mrs. Gammon rode a mule, the rest of the family walked... The Warnocks conveyed some of the land from the railroad to Morton Hill that would become South Shore in 1925...Several members of the King Family rest here..Kings Addition nearby has their namesake...The Kings owned several thousand acres of land that was originally the property of Simon Kenton... Benjamin, John and Forest King then inherited the land... The Forest King Farm was once a battle and burial ground of the Indians... The Lawsons, The Fosters and many more early residents are among the interred here...

This is a great old cemetery that wraps around the old church...There are war heroes from every war starting with 1812 as well as pioneering namesakes here...Enjoy the old markers which are in excellent condition...

The cache is a medium size peanut butter jar camouflaged with a log book...Bring a pen...
