This three part multi stage cache will show you the upward grade of the railroad. There is parking available near each stage. Look for a 35mm film container at the first two stops. The first stop on your journey will take you to what remains of the gravity station. This is where you began and ended your trip. Across from this station there was a pond at one time. The second stop is in the area of Fred Kiedeisch's wine house. The rail bed is on top of this wall. If you look close you may find what remains of the stop here. Be careful of broken glass in this area. They even littered back then. The last stop is an ammo box with the log book. It is about ten feet off the rail bed. By now you should know what that looks like. The coordinates on the first page of the log book will take you to what remains of south curve park, an 18 x 40 foot pavilion. Just walk about a tenth of a mile to the north and you will see the last stop on the upward journey on the railroad. The remains of the Summit house hotel. From here the steam engine detached and the car you where riding in descended 5 miles back to the station were you began your journey.
