Geocache Description:

A small cache located near a historic marker.

Near here at junction of Rock Creek and Mobile Bay lies Ecor Rouge; highest coastline point between Maine and Mexico. Aboriginal Indians held powwows and made pottery here. The red cliff, a mariners’ landmark on Spanish maps of 1500’s, called Ecor Rouge by French settlers in 1700’s, was used for a British hospital camp in 1771. Brick were made here in 1818 for re-building Fort Morgan.
