Dry Mountain Traditional Cache
AIMSless: Unfortunately, the road to this area is completely washed out now. In good conscience I can't recommend that anyone try to get within reasonable distance to this cache. I may try to find another area close to here that is accessible and do a re-boot.

Dry Mountain is east of Safford, south of Hwy. 70.
To get to the vicinity of this cache, take Hwy 70 to Haekel Road. Go south to these coordinates: N 32 42.016 W 109 30.357. This will be at a dirt road that goes east again. Once on the dirt road, take the first right turn onto another dirt road. Then take the next right hand turn (lots of dirt out here). The roads are dirt, but not bad. You do not need off-road vehicles (high profile). You'll have to follow your GPS from here. There isn't a real trail to this place, just washes and cattle trails. If you have kids with you, be aware that there is lots of geology around here. Keep an eye on them. As always, this is the desert--watch for snakes and bring pleanty of water. The hike from where you will leave your vehicle is about .75 miles (as the crow flies). Happy hiking! This is a real rock hound's paradise.
