Geocache Description:

This IS the ancient Wooly Mammoth Forest! Here, there were many wooly mammoths around. (Mammuthus primigenius). It was about 28,900 years ago, give or take a few hundred years. Around the last Ice Age. From this location the locals drove these giant mammals down to the Ancient Wooly Mammoth Trap. Also, some got stuck in this wet land area. You don't need to! To find this cache. You can see the War Zone of where the locals hunted these giant beasts.

This cache is a small one. Just a log and some signature items. Bring your own pen. You don't have to get muddy to find this cache. Follow the ORV trail until within 20 ft. of the cache. Please leave the cover, like it is. Try not to upset the hidding area too much. It looks like the locals have a paint ball area along the early part of the trail. You may want to find this cache in the morning before the teens wake up. <<p>First finder will have their name posted here for the next 100 years.

Woolly Mammoths once roamed the northern parts of Eurasia and North America. Bones were found right in Commerce Township! They ate plants such as grasses, sedges, and shrubs. They loved blueberries in this area. If you have some neat facts about Wooly Mammoths please post it with your log.

Thanks for the visit and have fun caching!
