All the hard work these volunteers give make them our local heroes. We would like to include those that started this fire station when it was just an idea.

In 1987, a group of community citizens volunteered to be on the board of directors to start a local fire department. That year a fire truck was bought and fire calls were answered out of a service station about a half mile north of the station as a Class 9 fire department that was all volunteer.

In 1988, local community people came together to build the fire station that stands on the ground today.

In 2000, the fire department received a Class 5 rating from ISO. At that time there were less than a dozen volunteer fire departments in the nation without a pressurized water system with this rating.

Today the fire department answers many fire calls and supports other area departments as backup.
