DLJ's Jurassic Walk Cache - Staverton Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lactodorum: Rather than keep this cache temporarily disabled (which should only be used for shortish periods) I'm archiving it. If/when the cache is ever replaced I'll consider unarchiving it assuming it still meets the guidelines.

Geocache Description:

The idea of this multi cache is to collect clues from around the lovely Northamptonshire village of Staverton and work out a simple sum, which gives you the co-ordinates for the final cache site.

It's a flat walk around the village which is directly on the Jurassic Way. It is a reasonable walk (yet still flat) to the final cache site, the distance in total is around 2 miles.

Now the cache……

Parking can usually be found around the village green, at the above co-ordinates:

Once parked head for the church of Saint Mary The Virgin which you will find, surprisingly, down Church Street. This is where you will find the first clue (A). The co-ordinates for this are:

N 52° 14.738’ W 001° 12.577’

The family service is on what Sunday of the month?

Clue A = _

Now re-trace your steps back towards the village green, here you will find a post box for clue B. The co-ordinates for the post box are:

N 52° 14.770’ W 001° 12.692’

The first post collection Monday to Friday is at 9:_ _ (Clue B)

Clue B = _ _

Now walk across to the green, here you will find a wooden Jurassic Way sign post showing you the mileage to Banbury and Stamford. Subtract the mileage to Banbury from the mileage to Stamford, the answer gives you Clue C.

Clue C = _ _

Clue D is a short distance from here and is taken from a telegraph pole. The co-ordinates for this are:

N 52° 14.856’ W 001° 12.717’

The pole has a marking of DP_ _(Clue D)

Clue D = _ _

Almost there ……

The final clues are clue E and F which are taken from a yellow fire hydrant sign attached to a wall, which can be found at the following co-ordinates:

N 52° 14.902’ W 001° 12.696’

The fire hydrant is _ (Clue E) ft. and _ (Clue F) in. away.

Clue E = _

Clue F = _

Now all you need to do is work out the following equation for the final co-ordinates using the clues gathered and then walk to find the hidden cache.

N 52° (B/E). (E+A) (C+D-A)’ W 001° (Fx2). (F-E) (B-A)’

The small Tupperware type container, suitable only for small swaps, originally contained the following items:

Blade Auto Fuses
Mains Plug Fuses
Box of Brilliant White Chalks
Garmin Pen
Coloured Pencils
40 'Years of The Transit' Badge
IP68 Waterproof Cable Connector
Ball Maze game
Carbon Monoxide Detector Card
Log book and pencil

Good Luck!!!!!
