Welcome to the Sand Dollar Habitat Preserve!
Few folks even notice this habitat preserve for native plants and
animals. It seems a bit odd for it to be in the place. The large
retaining wall helps maintain the preserve which among other
things, is the habitat for Smith's Blue Butterfly. Much of these
efforts have been ignored and overlooked by residents and patrons
of the nearby shopping.
At the cache location is an informational sign describing the
habitat preserve. Please read through the information and locate
the year the preserve was established. Next, note the number of
acres that were set aside. Finally, count the number of screws used
to fasten the sign. Now for some math.... Take the year the cache
was placed and subtract the date the preserve was established.
Next, take the number of acres and add the number of screws used to
attach the sign. Subtract this number from the first result.
Proceed this number of feet south of the posted coordinates. The
accuracy was sampled 140 times and was 12'.
I have never placed a nano-micro cache. It always seemed that a
larger cache could have been placed there or nearby. I guess there
are always exceptions.
The cache is not located in the preserve and is easily accessible
by everyone. Do not disturb any plants or animals! The cache is
handicap accessible but like most cache may be hard to
retrieve.
Please return the cache so it can be easily retrieved but is not
viewable from any angle.
