So here's to you, Dad. I'm sure you're cracking open a Mike's Hard or Smirnoff on top of a mountain wherever you are.*

Ellison Park has been the hub of many historical events and locations. Indian Landing which was located on Irondequoit Creek, for many years was used by the indigenous Iroquois as the beginning of the portage route which stretched along Ellison and many other parks.

Indian Landing marks where major east-west and north-south routes intersected, including a water route with only two portages leading from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico. Seneca Indians struggled against both the French and British to retain possession of the area, but once Revolutionary War settlers returned home with stories of the good soil available here, settlement began in earnest.

The English built Fort Schuyler at Indian Landing as a trading post to observe French action in the area. This was the first English settlement in western New York. The original post was believed to have been built by British captain Pieter Schuyler Jr. and a small company of men encouraged to trade with Indians of the region. The fort was abandoned after a year.

The cache is a regular ammo box.
