The Mojave Desert is a beautiful place to visit and spent some time, at certain times of the year. Usually spring and autumn are the best times to go. Summers can be very hot and winters very cold. Contrary to popular belief the desert is not a barren wasteland but one teeming with a variety of plant and animal life. It is also rich in history ranging ranging from the ancient indian era, western gold rush days, and modern aviation/ aerospace times. Recreation plays a big role in vacationing in the desert. Camping, off roading, dirt biking, rock hunting, nature watching, and of course, Geocaching are some of the many activities to be enjoyed the the vast expanse of the Mojave. Many concider it as the Los Angeles area's back yard. This is the first in a series of caches dedicated to my biannual soljern to this wonderous area. The cache is located between Hwy 395 and Cuddeback Lake not more than a few feet off of the Cuddeback Lake Rd. The road itself is a 2wd accessable dirt road and can be traveled on by most passenger cars, depending on current conditions. Please come prepared and aware of the desert surroundings. Enjoy the Mojave.
