Out and About in Plympton. Hardwick Wood Traditional Cache
Bar Sinister: Popped out to replace the box and log sheet but the whole cache has now disappeared. We have decided to archive as it seems like a muggle may have found it's hidey hole.

Hardwick Wood is listed as an ancient wood and covers approximately
54 acres. It is managed by the Woodland Trust and there are many
paths leading through the woods for walkers and dog walkers to
enjoy. The site is listed as an area of special wildlife interest.
The paths through the woods can get very muddy in wet weather.
Hardwick Woods are situated on the outskirts of Plympton and
overlook Saltram House and Gables Farm.
Saltram house, a George II mansion is set in 500 acres of parkland
and is cited as being one of Britain's best preserved examples of
an early Georgian house. Originally home to the Parker family and
the Earls of Morley, it is now owned by the National Trust and well
worth a visit whilst you are in the area.
Gables Farm, formerly Plymouth and District Dogs and Cats Home is a
more recent arrival to the area. The home was founded in 1907 and
was originally situated in Plymouth, moving to this purpose built
11 acre site in more recent times.
The cache is in Hardwick Wood a short distance off one of the many
paths. It is a 1 Litre lock-and lock box and contained, when placed
cat and dog related swaps. There is parking available at N50 22.
804 W004 04. 304 by the gate into the woodland.
Look out for the wildlife, whilst placing the cache we saw many
different birds, rabbits and a deer. Beware of the stinging nettles
when retrieving cache.
