This is part of a continuing
series of caches along the Aliso Creek Trail starting at
Cook’s Corner and going all the way to the ocean. Aliso Creek
rises in Cleveland National Forest and runs roughly south 13
miles to the ocean. The trail is paved and very popular in
some sections, so please be aware of muggles zooming by.
ArmadillidiumVulgare, Pill Bug, or as referenced by most kids,
Rollie Pollie. These are actually not insects, but rather Crustacea
under the order of Isopoda. You find them under logs or other dark
damp places. They actually need moisture because they breath
through gills.
There are quite a few of these around here. This is a forgotten
area with decaying leaves, decaying picnic table, and decaying
chain link fence; although the rollie pollies won't eat the
fence.
You are looking for a custom black container with little
resemblance to the rollie pollie itself.
