This is an ammo can placed for those who want to hike amongst the wildflowers in Shindagin Hollow. You will get some exercise.
I have been wanting to place a cache in this beautiful area but without disturbing the rare plants. Therefore, you will drive by them on the way to the cache. I recommend a slow drive with occasional stops and, if it is sunny, you might see the rare butterflies, too. The birding here is great as well.
Take Prospect Valley Rd. to a seasonal road that is not accessible in the winter. When you pass the beaver area, veer left. In the evening, there is a chorus of various frogs and birds here. Before you drive up the hill, make sure to check out the wildflowers on the hillside in May. Parking for the cache is 2 miles in on this narrow road which has a drop off on one side. Park at N42 20.089 W076 20.400 Follow the stone wall up the steep hill and cross another trail just before you reach the cache.
Since there is always the possibility of poison ivy on state lands, keep your eye out for it. If it turns out there is some near the cache site, I will move it. It was too soon to tell when the cache was hidden.
Enjoy this natural nursery.
