Heath and Reach was originally two villages,
indeed Ordnance Survey maps still show both villages as being
separate. Heath is the North of the Village which goes into
Stockgrove Park. Reach is the South
West of the village where the village centre currently is.
This cache is on a footpath which is managed
by the Heath and Reach P3 (Parish Path Partnership). It will take
you past two quarries for which Heath and Reach is known. The area
is well known for its particular specialist building and glass
sand.
If you carry along the path and turn right
just after the cache location, you will eventually reach
Sandhouse Nature Reserve which is a
beautiful part of Heath and Reach. From the cache you will also get
some fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. As you look
West, you will be able to see some of
the Woburn Abbey land which is famous for its Deer.
Please make sure that you keep to the paths as
the surrounding fields are private. The parking is near a local pub
and hotel which does a lovely Sunday lunch in particular. Please do
stop in for a drink on your way past as they are very
friendly.
NOTE: THE PUB NOW HAS A CLAMPING POLICY: NON-USERS ARE CHARGED
£75.
Parking coords to be updated shortly.
