Another cache in my board game series, which consists of:
Boggle Academy
Battle Stations
Word Freak
Chance Encounter
Gammon Gambit
Domino Delight
Many of you probably know (or vaguely remember) the strategy
game of Battleship. In this game, each player hides five ships
(carrier, battleship, destroyer, submarine, and patrol boat) on a
10 x 10 pegboard. Each player takes turns guessing the location of
the opponent's ships by calling out a grid point (e.g., B8). The
answer is either a miss or hit. The guesser then marks on their
board a white peg for a miss, or a red peg for a hit. The first to
guess the location of all five ships wins the game.
To find this cache, you will have to review the Battleship board
below. There is room for quite a few ships among those white pegs,
but the clues below should make it pretty easy. Each letter refers
to a row in the grid. You are trying to solve for the correct
column in the grid, as indicated by the information below.

a = center position of submarine in row i
b = center position of destroyer in row i
c = north position of battleship in row e
d = west position of carrier in row b
e = west position of submarine in row i
f = north position of patrol in row a
g = east position of carrier in row b
h = north position of destroyer in row h
i = south position of desroyer in row j
In the grid, the directions are as you would see on a map. The
center position refers to the middle peg for the ship. Once you've
figured out where each ship is located, you are ready to solve for
the cache location, which is at 47 ab.cde and 122 bf.ghi. The cache
is a small metal tin, suitable for small trade items only. It is
not located on private property, so make sure you check your
coordinates with Google Earth.
