Geocache Description:

A cache hidden in the Shiawassee Basin Preserve. Close to the parking lot.

This cache is hidden in "Shiawassee Basin Preserve" in Springfield Township. The hours for the park are 8AM to Dusk. Rules are posted at the entrance. One to note is "When the gates are closed, the park is closed and violators can/will be ticketed.". There is a dirt parking lot. The gate is a bit narrow so be careful. Please enjoy this lovely preserve while you are here. Be careful not to be seen by mugglers.

This area is known to have the Massasauga Rattlesnake. I don't wish to alarm anyone about the danger of having a confrontation with one of these snakes. Many of us have walked the trails in this area many times and I've never heard of anyone crossing paths with a Massasauga Rattlesnake. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure so I've provided a few links if you want to learn to more about these snakes. Remember that these snakes are protected in Michigan so do not harm them.
