THE CACHE:

To determine the correct coordinates leading to the cache container, you must first explore the life and works of Antonin Dvorak ( D'VOR-zhak) by answering the following questions:

  1. Dvorak was born in Nelahozeves near Prague. In what year was he born?
    • If 1840, then A = 3
    • If 1841, then A = 5
    • If 1842, then A = 7
    • If 1843, then A = 9

  2. How many symphonies did Antonin Dvorak complete during his lifetime?
    • If 3, then B = 1
    • If 6, then B = 2
    • If 9, then B = 3
    • If 12, then B = 4

  3. This symphony by Dvorak is by far his most popular. It was written between January and May 1893, while he was in New York. Neil Armstrong took this symphony to the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission, the first Moon landing mission, in 1969. Which symphony is it?
    • If Symphony No. 1 in C minor (The Bells of Zlonice), then C = 1
    • If Symphony No. 5 in F major (Pastoral), then C = 5
    • If Symphony No. 7 in D minor (Romantic), then C = 7
    • If Symphony No. 9 in E minor (From The New World), then C = 9

  4. Dvorak also wrote operas, the best known of which is ________________.
    • If Rusalka, then D = 2
    • If The Devil and Kate, then D = 4
    • If The Jacobin, then D = 5
    • If The Magic Flute, then D = 8

  5. He spent the summer of 1893 with his family in the Czech speaking community of _________________ .
    • If Salt Lake City, Utah, then E = 2
    • If Chicago, Illinois, then E = 4
    • If New Orleans, Louisiana, then E = 6
    • If Spillville, Iowa, then E = 8

  6. In 1896 he visited this city for the last time to hear the premiere there of his Cello concerto.
    • If London, F = 0
    • If Paris, F = 1
    • If New York City, F = 2
    • If Prague, F = 3

Now plug these variables into the formula below to learn the correct coordinates. The coordinates will lead you to the cache - a very, very small cache. Bring your own writing utensil to sign the log. No room for trade items here and no room for a FTF prize, just the honor of being the first to sign a crisp, new logbook.
