Located in a great park right in town. Difficulty rating based on high muggle traffic. Stealth required. Access and re-hide it from the sides not the front. It can be seen two easily.
The cache is a lock & lock container, located in a great park, which is also host to some concerts in the summer, which could prove tricky. Pack a picinic and make an afternoon of it!
Park History:
The park was named afer Elizabeth Austin Roeder, the wife of one of Bellingham's founding fathers, Capitan Henry Roeder. She and Henry were childhood friends and eventually sweethearts back in Ohio, on the shores of Lake Erie. Even after Henry went west to seek his fortune, their hearts remained true, although they were physically so far apart. In 1854 she succumbed to her own heart and the pleadings of Henry and joined an overland caravan heading west. After six months of travel, she finally arrived in Olympia. Upon hearing of her arrival, Captain Roeder immediately left to meet her. When they reunited, they were married by the Chief Justice in the parlor of the old hotel in Olympia. The two remained together in love for the rest of their years.
Mrs. Roeder was a kind, patient, and loving person who was deeply religious. She was a friend to the Indians and a steady influence for good in the wild, wild, west. In 1912, the oldest Park in Whatcom County was renamed to honor this great pioneer.
The park once had a pond, bridge, fountain, and other water features, and was originally a ball field, with no trees at all!!
