This cache is located on forested land within Roslyn city limits. This area has long been a popular place with locals to walk the dog, ride your bike or in the winter to ski, snowshoe or snowmobile. A few years ago it came under threat to be developed. With the hard work of RIDGE, a local concerned citizens group and Suncadia Resort, a deal was worked out for city to purchase the land. As of last year, it is now under city ownership and will help maintain Roslyn’s small town setting nestled in forest.
The cache is a medium sized clear plastic canister with a screw top lid. Located on north side of large debris pile in old logging landing.
The cache is accessed from an old coal mine road closed to motorized vehicles. The walk is a moderate climb with a couple of short steeper sections. I recommend just take your time and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the forest as you walk. A loop walk can be made if you continue down the single track trail that forks off the road just before it crosses into the clearcut. This trail will return you to the Alaska Street alley at 2nd Street two blocks from the parking area at 6th Street and Alaska Street alley.
Parking area is located at the following coordinates – N 47°13.615, W121°00.121. Please avoid blocking the alley or driveways.
