Please help solve the mystery of the alleged "Hidden Lakes at Summerwood", and trade items that would be related to a pond or small lake.
Several years ago there was a small natural pond on the hillside above North Salt Lake City that fluctuated considerably with the seasonal percipitation, from zero to a few feet in depth. A few years ago Kern River Gas Company cut a swath through the pond and over the hillside and buried a 40" natural gas pipeline. Still later, land developers tore up adjacent hillside and constructed an access road and a subdivision which they had the audacity to to name "Hidden Lakes Drive" and" Hidden Lakes at Summerwood" It was assumed that no houses would be built over the pipeline so this geocache was originally placed where it was assumed it would not be disturbed by future builders. Hovever, a driveway and a landscaping boulder was placed within 18" of the original cache location (ref. GCNREQ). The geocache was then disabled, during the winter, and later relocated to these new coordinates.
To access the cache, take Summerwood Drive off from Bountiful Boulevard then turn left onto Hidden Lakes Drive. Continue to the summit of Hidden Lakes Drive, then, park on Hidden Lakes Circle at N 40'50.188 W 111'52.222 Hike up the dirt road behind the gate and follow your GPS over to the geocaches' new location.
If you happen to find a hidden lake anywhere near the cache please enter the coordinates in your log so others may share. Also, don't run into either the Hidden Hollow or the Hidden Ridge. Since it is implied that there may be hidden lakes nearby, please help maintain this as a water themed cache in case a lake should reappear. Enjoy the view.
