Geocache Description:

A nice walk in a protected forest near Wingham. Look for the Stapleton Tract!

Trailhead and road entrance can be found on Turnberry Culross Rd W - N 43 55.769 W081 21.396 (Waypoint 1)
Parking can be found at N 43 55.601 W 81 21.354 (see Waypoint)

This parking site may not be accessible in winter if the gate is down. Therefore, parking can be found at the side of the road near the entrance to the forest.

Why place a cache here?

This cache has been placed in memory of Daisydee's grandfather who died in Feb. of 2005 after an unsuccessful battle with Cancer. Some readers may be saddened to hear of yet another person who lost a battle with this terrible disease, but don't feel too bad. Grandpa lived a long, wonderful life of 90 years. He had 5 children and 9 grandchildren, he was the best Father/Grandpa anyone could ever have. He battled Cancer 3 times in 15 years and was a great believer in the power of ones own mind to overcome any illness. We found this little protected forest on a map, and seeing as it bears his name, we knew it needed a cache in remembrance of him.

The Trail...

There is a trail cut on the left side of the parking area that would be considered an easy trek. But the last 100 meters is a little harder to travel, hence the terrain rating. If you decide to bushwack the 500 meters from the parking area directly to the cache, it is also a little troublesome. The ground is covered in wood pieces and fallen trees so it may be difficult for some cachers. We placed this cache with a 4 year old and he was slow moving through this area. Still, it is a beautiful Scotch Pine forest with a small lake (fish?) and stream near-by.

The Cache

The cache is a medium sized clear container with a grey strip around the lid. It can be found in an old beech tree that seems out of place in a forest full of pines. But, Grandpa was a unique man and some would say he was definitely a "Beech Tree Amongst the Pines".

Enjoy the Cache!
