Bridges of Johnson County Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

-Tiki-: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

A bit of a walk through F.W. Kent Park, so enjoy it! Hunt this cache at your own risk, and be careful on the final leg.

Get a trail map at link listed below and park at Angler's Parking at 7 o'clock position on map. KentParkMap.pdf

Beautiful F.W. Kent Park comprises 1,082 acres with over 9 miles of trails, and 7 old-time county-road bridges that have been relocated for crossing different parts of the lake and ponds there.  This multi will acquaint you with some of them and their histories!

  • The listed coordinates will take you to the second bridge on the trail if you start from the dam area.  Write down the year that Thomas and Caleb Pratt got their patent for the truss bridge.  Let these four numerals equal A B C D.

  • At N41 43.841 W091 43.856, write down the length in feet of this bridge as listed on the sign next to it.  Let these 2 numerals equal E F.

  • To find the final stage, a camo small container, use these coordinates: N41 43.(A+B)(C)(A+D) W091 43.(D+F)(C-A)(E)

Take care finding this one and in replacing it as found.

"Bridges of Johnson County" is a tribute to the Iowa "Toms",  Blue Grass Tom & Iowa Tom.  If you enjoyed BoJC, be sure to try some of the caches by the guys that inspired it!
