Geocache Description:

Steep hike to 1926 memorial plaque set in a boulder seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

This hike starts from Nash Hill Road in Williamsburg. From Route 9 in the center of town, with the library on your left and the Florence Savings Bank on your right, go over a little bridge and turn right. Take Nash Hill Road uphill about 3 miles (dirt road for the last mile or so), and park at a dirt parking area on the left that can hold about three cars. Henhawk Trail begins to the right of the parking lot.

This very rocky trail bordered by stone walls was once a town road, and if you wander off it to the sides you might find cellar holes. This trail is used by snowmobiles in winter and ATVs all year.

Stay on the main trail (don't take any of the turnoffs) and climb uphill for about a mile and look for a stone wall going uphill up to your left, perpendicular to the trail you are on. Turn there and follow that stone wall up an even steeper incline until you come to a large boulder that contains an interesting metal plaque dated 1926.

You may think you've found the boulder, but if there's no plaque set into it, keep going and it's the next large boulder a little higher up.

Enjoy the plaque.

From this boulder, look for a trail heading up along the ridgetop in the same general direction in which you've been climbing. Follow that, and the cache is not too far off this trail on your right. If you get to a state forest boundary, you've gone too far.
