Geocache Description:

Please do try and come out for a great time of caching and socialising. Nothing big or fancy just a get together where we can share experiences in caching, trade travel bugs and log geocoin collections. We'd really like to meet everybody. Kids are welcome! The more the merrier.

This Quantock Cache Bash will be held on June 11th in the Ramscombe area of the Quantocks. We plan on meeting at the above coordinates between 10:30 and 11am for local caching. Ramscombe car park N51.08.009 W003.11.593. If you are new to geocaching and do not have a GPS please email us for driving directions to this location. We will be staying at this location during the event, and you are welcome to either bring chairs and hang out with us, or use it as a central location to spend a day of caching before meeting up at the pub later.

At around 2:30pm we will move on to the Cottage Inn Pub located about 3 miles away in Keenthorne (Nether Stowey). N51.08.788 W003.07.766 Food will be available. Please email us if you will be wanting food as we will need to let the pub owners know a general head count. We will be holding a free raffle at the pub. We hope to have several items to give away including some caching supplies we are bringing with us. If anyone has any donations they would like to make for the raffle, please contact mtngirls. There will be many camo techniques on view as well as cache ideas for you to see and share.

The purpose of this event is for the many cachers around the area to meet each other and put a face to a name. We are from Southern California and have been involved in caching for about 10 months. We are very excited to meet with other cachers, as are our friends, CharlieMarley who are local to the event area. We have cached in England before and look forward to doing more on this trip. We are looking forward to bringing some of our ideas, and sharing some of yours. We will be bringing several camoed caches with us, and together with CharlieMarley hope to hide 20+ caches in the local area for this event. We will also be placing a hydrocache and a night cache. Bring the kids as they will love the caches - some are particularly kid friendly.

This event will also be an opportunity to help Travel Bugs on their way. We are collecting Travel bugs here to bring to the event. We have contacted many bug owners who have given permission for their bug to attend the event - some are very sought after bugs, which have their individual icons which will show on your online profile once logged. If you intend to bring any TBs, “drop” them into the cache online before the event, with a note of their objectives. If you do place/retrieve a TB at the event, make sure that you log it promptly, keeping a note of its tracking number, etc. Many Travel Bugs go missing at events and that would be terrible. So if you do take a travel bug, please, please, please log it. Please bring along any travel bug that you would like us to bring back to the USA. Just make sure that you hand them over to us at the event.

We will also bring our geocoins to share. These coins will be available for viewing and yes, you may log them. Again, once you have logged a geocoin new icons will appear on your online profile. As with travel bugs, if you are bringing geocoins to the event.
Please "drop" them into the cache online before the event.

It would be very helpful to us if notes are posted to indicate likely attendance and whether you will be wanting food at the pub. Further information will be posted as details are finalised over the next couple of weeks, so you may wish to place this event on your watch list. If anyone has questions about the event, local accommodation, attractions, etc, please contact us by email, we’ll do our best to help.
