Geocache Description:

A walk (or drive) from the city centre to a popular hostely

Park around the quay and look for a route finding sign at the above co-ordinates. You will then need to substitute the following letters for numbers. It is a fair walk, but level and very pretty (except for the glue factory!)
The canal basin dates from 183A. Kings Arms sluice is dated 1EB4. The date associated with the Double Locks is 170C. Topsham Lock was built in 1D32. This makes the cache itself a 40 minute stroll away at N50 42.ABC W003 30.DAE. You can drive but it's a roundabout route and hard to find. Dont bash your car on the wooden bridge!
Exeter Students Union likes to brand itself as the Carlsberg advert, with the word "Exeter" substituted for "Carlsberg", and I thought this place could do with the same branding (well used by students, and full of character). I have been going to this place for many years (more frequently when I worked at County Hall). Originally independent, the pub is now leased by Youngs of Wandsworth. Note the decoration on the ceiling which depicts former members of staff and customers. Well known for it's fine selection of ales.
Long ago staff used to throw ice cubes at the customers, just for fun. You could take chestnuts from a bucket and roast them on the fire.
The tupperware box is full of nice things.
