This path takes you past ancient prehistoric earthworks and, in the spring, great wildflowers
Fort Ancient Earthworks and Nature Preserve features 18,000 feet of earthen walls built 2,000 years ago by ancient American Indians who used the shoulder blades of deer, split elk antler, clam shell hoes and digging sticks to dig the dirt. You'll pass these ancient works, please be respectful and not walk on the earthworks. It is a part of the Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks serial nomination for World Heritage inscription. There is a site admission fee (If you want, you can pay admission to just the park, not the museum). Daytime hours only.
