Geocache Description:

This is a very easy walk 500 feet.

The Stenton Massacre of 1763 was not an isolated incident. It occurred because the local native American were being mistreated at the Stenton Tavern. During this time Allen and Whitehall Township were at the edge of frontiers in America. At daybreak on Saturday morning, October 8th, of that year, as the savages were stealthily approaching John Stenton's house to massacre its inmates, they met Jane, the wife of James Horner, living near by, who was on her way to a neighbor's house for some coals to light her morning fire. Starting a fire in the 18th century was difficult and tedious task. Paper was scarce and too valuable to be burned and matches had not yet been invented.
Fearing she would betray them or raise an alarm they dispatched her with their tomahawks. The Horner’s lived on what is now Horner Road in Allen Township.

Mrs. Horner's body lies at rest in the graveyard of the Allen Township Presbyterian Church, (Now God Missionary Church) one of the oldest cemetery in Northampton County with that of General Brown. General Brown we believe served with General George Washington. The inscription on her tomb is as follows:
"In memory of Jane, wife of James Horner, who suffered death by the hands of the Savage Indians October Eighth, Seventeen Hundred and Sixty-three, aged fifty years."

Park at . For the first part go to Jane wife of James Horner place of rest. While there check the cemetery out. To get to the 2nd cache you must find the stone of Jane wife of Robert Horner.
