Geocache Description:

You won't see a mill here as it was burned by the Wompanoag Indians in 1675 during the King Philip War. You will see granite remnants.

Cornet Robert Stetson built a saw mill here around 1656. All that is left is some of the granite foundation stone. The mill dam has long been gone but it created a large wetland called "Old Pond Meadows" on the other side of the bridge, which is all over grown now. Third Herring Brook did not produce enough water year round to sustain a profitable mill.

This one acre site has been named the "Arthur Curtis Memorial Park" by the Norwell Conservation Commission. The sign needs some help, but the Mill site is in NORWELL! Keep the brook on your right.
This place should be registered as a Massachusetts Historical Site.

Please keep the cache well hidden as there are lots of muggle fishermen that come to this area!
