Hanging Out in Hall Green - Part 2 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

mumbo jumbo: 14 finds of the Final in 19 months...

I have long known that it is the fairly extensive and widespread info gathering that puts people off this series. Still, I was not too bothered as it meant finders had really earned their smiley! But cakemaker's recent comment at the Final set me thinking and I have decided to simplify things. It will soon become a long multi. Parts 1 and 2 will be archived. Anyone who has done Parts 1 and/or 2 can have the relevant information for free if they want (although the hides will change so it might be fun to try the whole of the reset cache).

Well done to the 14 finders of the original offering! Right - now I've got to go and reset the thing...

Geocache Description:

NOTE: THE CACHE IS LOCATED NEXT TO A RIVER WHICH CAN FLOOD AFTER PROLONGED HEAVY RAIN AFTER WHICH THIS SERIES IS PROBABLY BEST AVOIDED

A small cache requiring the hunter to visit some of my home town’s minor “glories” before finding it in The Shire County Park, so named because of its links to The Hobbit / Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkein, for whom parts of the park and its surrounding area were his childhood playground. Indeed, at Sarehole Mill, said to be the inspiration for Hobbiton, there is an annual Tolkein weekend. The finder will also get information essential to claiming HOHG - Final.

The cache can be found at N52 25.*** W001 51.***

The missing co-ordinates can be worked out using the following Questions / Answers:

Q1 What number is bordered by the Corporation of Birmingham here? (N 52° 26.046 W 001° 51.048) As a random point of interest, the late great Tony Hancock (of Hancock’s Half Hour fame) grew up on this road.

Q2 How many A-frame swings are there in this playground? (N 52° 25.755 W 001° 51.209)

Q3 How many murals are there on the front of Hall Green Library? (These are the listing co-ordinates).

The North seconds = ((A1 x A2) x A3) – (A3 x 11).

The first two West seconds = A1 – A3. The final West second = A3.

The resulting co-ordinates should put you on a path alongside the river. The cache is in a split / fallen tree right by the river and in quite open territory so please beware muggles.

The cache is a small lock 'n lock box containing a sweet tin, a logbook and a pencil. YOU NEED TO GET INFORMATION FROM THE TIN TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS HOHG - FINAL. The information you need is detailed in the logbook for HOHG – Part 1. If you forgot to make a note of what you need, you’ll have to go back!

Parking is readily available at or close to all of the clues. If you are attempting the whole set, it would be best if you collected all clues for each cache before setting off into the park. If you are combining this with Part 1 and Final, I suggest you park at N52 26.580; W001 51.341.

If you are continuing on to HOHG Final and are not in a particular hurry, why not make a short diversion onto the Wake Green Road. Here you will see a row of 16 post war Phoenix prefab single story houses which are still occupied and are now listed buildings!
