Geocache Description:

Iniades or Oiniadai as it is correctly translated was a city that dated back to the 5th century BC. It was one of the most important ancient cities of the area of Akarnania. Iniades was strategically located near the mouth of river Acheloos which during the ancient centuries was navigable at this point.

At the archaeological site you may walk the ancient paths to the theater and the very impressive ship shed.

You may reach Iniades from the National Road from Andirio towards Agrinio, taking the exit for Etoliko. Drive west through Etoliko which is built on an islet and follow the signs for Neochori. Then drive to Katochi and follow the signs to "Iniades Ancient Theatre". Google Maps/Earth is high resolution on this part so use it to plan your visit. The deviation from he national road is only 20 kilometers and it is worth your time and mileage.

The cache is a plastic container containing a log book, a geocaching declaration, pen, pencil, eraser and sharpener and the following items to trade:
Ford Truck TB
Land Shark TB
1 marine key chain
1 retsina carafe

2 lucky shiny stones
1 set o perfume stickers

The cache s located outside the fenced perimeter but make sure you visit the site during daytime to have the chance to visit the ruins.

[UPDATE: There is a new fence since 2007 and the cache is now placed within the perimeter. Please visit between 08.00 and 14.00.]
