Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are not the cache location. This is a straight forward cache to find once you figure out how to read the puzzle. I picked this spot because every time I have been in this area the fog and mist give a mysterious quiet feeling like you are being watched.

LOTR title

I have created a series of caches that are based on JRR Tolkien trilogy the Lord of the rings. These caches do not have to be completed in order; however you will need to collect clues in some caches to complete other caches later in the series. There will be six sub-series of caches one for each of the original six books. I will try to incorporate an event or place from the books into each cache. You will need do research or find clues in the books. Some answers may be found in the movies. In each cache you will find a clue that you will need in order to find the final cache for each book. The final cache in each book will then provide a clue to a master cache at the end of all six series. Be sure to write down each clue. I have used three different references to collect the facts for these caches, the movies, a three book paper back set and the 50th Anniversary Edition both printed by Houghton Mifflin. Good luck and have fun working on and completing these caches.

Book One Series: (GCV6K4)

The other caches in Book Two series are:

LOTR 2-2 The Council Of Elrond (GCW2CH)
LOTR 2-8 Farewell to Lórien (GCW2CN)

An Elven-maid there was of old,
A shinning star by day:
Her mantle white was hemmed with gold,
Her shoes of silver-gray.

A star was bound upon her brows,
A light was on her hair
As sun upon the golden boughs
In Lórien the fair.

Upon their escape from the Balrog in the Mines of Moria the Fellowship seeks shelter from the Orcs in the woods of Lothlórien. Along the way they stopped at a stream that feed into the Silverloade River. It is here that we learn of the Mithril-coat Frodo wears under his clothing, Aragon now understands how Frodo survived that battle in the mines where he was struck by and hammer and anvil. They tend to their wounds and continue on to the Golden Woods. It is night by the time they reach the edge of the woods, turn off the path and seek shelter for the night. One of my favorite lines I n both the book and movies are in this chapter. It is when the Elves of Lothlórien reveal themselves to the Fellowships. In the movie it is directed at Gimli, but in the book it refers to Sam. ‘ Yes they are Elevs,’ said Legolas; and they say that you breathe so loud that they could shoot you in the dark.’

To find this cache you will need to find the coordinates in the cross word puzzle below. The North coordinate will be vertical and the west coordinate will be horizontal. There are no diagonals.
