Geocache Description:

At 500m elevation, this roadside cache offers an incredible view of Chase, the Little Shuswap Lake and the South Thompson River, and its only a 5 minute drive from Chase! Should be a quick and easy find, but spend some time soaking up the view. Sorry, no hiking here!

We discovered this wonderful vista on our way back from the Skmana Lake cache and I insisted we stop and place a cache. Was also surprised to discover a creek and small waterfall about 10-15m away. You'll hear it! The cache is a peanut butter jar holding our brand new signature item (pen), horse magnet, shark keychain LED light, tape measure keychain, polished stone, two-for-one coupons, and other small items, along with the log book, two pencils, and the geocaching note. The FTF prize is a scratch & win ticket. PLEASE COVER CACHE AFTER REPLACING TO KEEP IT OUT OF SIGHT OF MUGGLES! DON'T OVER DO IT THOUGH AS THAT SOMETIMES DRAWS MORE ATTENTION. THANKS.

Once turning off the Trans Canada Highway into Chase, find the bridge that crosses the South Thompson River at N50 49.579 W119 41.893, and once across it turn immediately to the left. Drive about 4.3 km to Loakin Bear Road and turn right on it. Watch for the osprey nests around this area! The cache is located about 1km further up the road at a switchback corner where you can park.

About 3km further up the road, but turning left on the Niskonlith Lake Road, is the Niskonlith Lake Provincial Park which has 30 rustic campsites on the eastern shores of the lake. If you stay on Loakin Bear Road you'll come across Skmana Lakes Rec Site and a cache. Continuing on you'll come to Roderick Haig Provincial Park between Shuswap Lake and Adams Lake. There you'll find another 3 caches, two of them at the log fume trails. It makes for a great day outing! You can go back to the Trans Canada highway through Squilax.
