Skookum Bear: As the cache owner has not indicated that they have visited the cache location to replace it if it was missing, perform needed maintenance, or verify that it is still there within a reasonable amount of time, I am regretfully archiving the cache to clear it from the active cache database and open the area to new caching opportunities. Geocache Description:

This is a cache that the 2nd Eagle Mountain Guides released when on a geocaching expedition around Inlet Trail. Because it is a Girl Guide group who released it, and the girls love crafts, (and we had a good suggestion for this kind of cache from Groundhog and Shadow), we decided to stock it with craft kits. There are craft kits for girls and boys of all ages! Go ahead and trade, don't worry if you don't have a craft kit to leave, we'll be re-stocking it whenever it starts to run out.

Wilkes creek meets the Inlet at beautiful Old Orchard Park in the Pleasantside area of Port Moody. This area of the beach is a really nice place to come and relax, and is quite often away from the crowd on a nice day.

Wilkes Creek originates as sidehill runoff near the Port Moody / Anmore boundary. This area was logged between 1920-1940, following completion of the Climax high-grade locomotive and railway.

Coastal cutthroat trout and Coho inhabited the lower section of Wilkes Creek until the 1970's when major stream alterations rendered the stream unihabitable. Now the lowest 10 meters of the creek is only seasonally inhabited by juvenille salmonids, likely originating from Noons and Mossom Creek. The prickly sculpin may also inhabit the lower section of this creek.

It was difficult to find a spot in this park where you might be able to get at the cache without being watched. Therefore, Cache is a little difficult to get at, but shouldn't be to hard to find. There is a trail of sorts from above the cache that is not very well defined, but if you can find it, and stay on it you will avoid trampling any vegetation. Alternatively, you can get to the cache from below on the beach. This is better access, as it is hidden from most of the people in the park, (and the caretakers residence), but is more difficult to get in to. There is a tunnel through the blackberries which leads directly to the cache, but it is a bit of a steep climb. Either way you decide to go, make sure you have long sleeves and no sandals!

Cache is a temporary film canister . No crafts for now, no room for trades!

There is good parking at Old Orchard Park, or on the North side of the street, West of the cache.
