ElbaPatch: My thanks goes out to everyone who showed up to make this a very special day for HFJohn. His dedication to the geocaching community should be commended as he sets an excellent example for the rest of us to follow. We look forward to hosting his 3 K event as he continues to seek out new and interesting caches in all the counties of New York. Keep checking those caches fellow geonuts for his name to appear. Geocache Description:

Please join us at an event to celebrate the 2,000th find of HFJohn, one of the first geocachers in New York State on Sunday, June 11th, 2006.

The event will be held at:

Center Street Smoke House
20 Center Street
Batavia, N.Y. 14020

Time: 2:00 pm till 6:00 pm

Coords at the top of the page should take you right to the front entrance for the event. Watch for signs once inside the building for where we will be. Someone maybe at the door to greet you.

There is no need to be personally acquainted with HFJohn to attend this event. Many of you have seen his name signed on the over 2,000 log books in 12 counties and 3 states so now is your chance to congratulate him in person and learn from the master. This will be like any other Pub event with a quick presentation around 5:00 pm. So come out and meet the other local cachers and experience what Genesee County has to offer.

With such a short publication notice don't expect many new hides in the immediate area although several are in the works. There are numerous caches in Batavia as well as the rest of Genesee County. So get some caching in before the event, stop in for lunch and a beverage, enjoy telling geocaching tales, stick around for supper, what ever fits your schedule. The Center Street Smoke House has an excellent food menu and cash bar. As always be mindful to pay your tab before leaving.

CHILD FRIENDLY! Feel free to bring children to the event, although there are no activities planned. Please keep the kids somewhat supervised though, i.e. no wandering around the building. There will be others partaking of the great fare at the Smoke House that do not know what geocaching is about so lets all impress them.

WIN A DOOR PRIZE: All those attending will have the opportunity to win a door prize (yet to be determined what). I also will be raffling off several geocoins during the event.

Please post a note if you can attend, and the number attending so I have an idea of what to tell the establishment to expect.

Although the parking is somewhat limited on the street there are several parking lots real close by for you to use.
