It’s
time again for
Bertha
Brock Park Cache-o-rama!
Join us again this year for the now 4th annual Bertha
Brock Park camping and caching event. Included in this years event are
event caches, night caching, Saturday night potluck , and the fun
of hanging out with your fellow cachers for the day/weekend.
When?: The main event will be on
Saturday July 22nd. Times will follow, but usually
starting just late enough in the morning for day trippers to make
the times.
Many people camp the whole weekend, my crew
usually arrives the Wednesday before.
Where?: Bertha Brock Park in Ionia,
Mi. We’ve fallen in
love with this park. It’s a rustic campground (Read: pit toilets
and no showers/electricity) with lots of character, plenty of
caches, and lots of beautiful trails and scenery. The park welcomes us every year
with open arms, and
have been wonderful in supporting all of our needs.
Who?: You, of course, and your
friends, family, whomever. This is typically a very casual
event, some things to do both day and night..(night caching
rocks!). The park and
event is alcohol friendly, but family focused. No need to worry
about the kids. In
fact, I think every kid who’s attended past events has had a
blast.
Why?: Why not? This is a nice opportunity to
meet your fellow cachers, enjoy a quiet weekend camping, and see
some beautiful area.
Saturday night usually involves a potluck dinner, a campfire, and
lots of socializing with fellow cachers.
More: For those of you whom haven’t been
to a BBP event, it’s a nice, informal, relaxing
event. Bring
something to pass if you’re staying for the potluck, and
whatever you need for the day(s). If possible, camping is
encouraged, it’s really a beautiful park.
NEW NEWS!!! It seems now that
reservations WILL be accepted from our group, for this event.
Contact Nicole Frost, Park manager. Her Number is on the website
for the park, you’ll need to have a site in mind when you call.
They’re bending policy a little for us, so
please keep this in mind when contacting Nicole.

***Another annual tradition is our Saturday
Potluck Dinner. If you
have never been able to attend before, make sure to bring your
appetite. If possible,
post what you are planning on bringing. This is not a requirement, but is
helpful to everyone else. This might be a great time to
pull out the Dutch Oven and try a new recipe!! Or, better yet, a seasoned old
recipe.
