Duck or Grouse Traditional Cache
wykenwizard: Decided to archive this cache as the footpath has now become rather lumpy and difficult to walk on, and snakes, including adders, were reported in the area and as the cache was under a log it could have been dangerous to put your hand under there.

A nice n easy cache. FTF may want to become the owner of a Sir Galahad of Warwick geo coin, designed by wykenwizard, as a souvenir.
This is a relatively easy cache with good parking facilities. There are two convenient parking spots one at N52 29.419 W001 39.617 and another just inside Castle Lane.
At the co ordinates for the first parking spot there is a notice board giving details of Maxstoke Walks. After parking safely set off along Castle Lane and after a short walk you will find a gate leading to a public footpath. The co ordinates for the gate are N52 29.619 W001 39.726
After that just follow your nose and enjoy the walk. Just one thing ! It's not called Duck or Grouse for nothing. You may find some stray golf balls on your walk that have penetrated the hedge which separates you from the golf course. If someone shouts "Fore" Duck or Grouse, get my drift? See the poem below !
Ode to Duck or Grouse
The path is straight, the grass is long
So if the day is wet
You’ll need your boots and waterproofs
Make sure you don’t forget
It can be quite a muddy track
So take care you don’t slip
And when you do locate our cache
We hope it’s worth the trip
One word of warning you must heed
The golf course is next door
Watch out for flying golf balls
Or your head could be quite sore!
