Wolf Rock Bounty Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

CTReviewer: Greetings from Geocaching.com

I have been looking at caches in the area that have been temporarily disabled for a while now and it looks like your cache has been under the weather for some time. While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed and it is time to have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
CTReviewer

Geocache Description:

The caches here at Wolf Rock Nature Preserve will take you on the Joshua's Land Trust well blazed YELLOW Trail (Blue is Nipmuck). Although they all appear to be close to zig-zag them, you can't. You'll hike through lowlands and elevation changes. Just stay on the Yellow Trail, which is a very enjoyable hike, and you'll get them all. WATCH THE LITTLE ONES here as there are steep ledges and drop offs.

There are a few lower spots that might be wet in the spring or after heavy rains and there is one small stream crossing. You can certainly see the force of the glacier that moved southward through this area, slicing off chunks of rock and steepening slopes. This particular spot boasts of it so be careful when exploring. Wolves may have inhabited the area when the town was settled, but by the turn of this century, Wolf Rock had become a favorite destination for a walk. Once part of a large estate, it was bordered by an extensive stone wall, which is still visible along Brown's Road. Wolf Rock Nature Preserve is now part of the Joshua's Land Trust and they graciously gave us permission to hide these caches on their property.

From Rt.195, travel on Brown's Road for one mile to where Crane Hill Rd. forks to the left. Travel on Crane Hill Rd about 0.15 m to the crossing of the Nipmuck Trail (blue-blazed). Use Park and Go (or Don't Go) for parking coordinates. Follow the trail (you'll see the Wolf Rock Nature Preserve sign) on the left (south) side of the road. Just up the stairs, the Yellow Trail will branch off to the right from Nipmuck.

All caches are JUST OFF the trail
