This cache in located in one of Janesville's Green Belt areas. The
trailhead is best found by parking at N42 41.219' W088 58.667' on
Greendale Dr. The cache is about 1/3 of a mile from this location.
The cache is off the main trail with minor bushwhacking. My 7 &
10 year olds helped me place this one so if they can do it I'm sure
your kids can. After a heavy rain the usually dry stream-bed may be
a little sloppy, but most of the time it is dry and fun for rock
hounds.
As I was growing up, I spent hours & hours in this Green Belt.
My friends & I use to tell other kids there was a Gullyman that
lived in this area (we called this area the "gully" hence
"Gullyman"). Now my kids love to hike down here with Grandpa &
Ruby the Beagle. So the Gullyman story has again resurfaced. Can
you find his stash? You are looking for a green ammo can. The
original contents include: Two stuffed animals, Silly Putty, New
box of crayons, a mini first aid kit, two mini-car light up key
chains, bubbles, and a log book. After finding this one don't
forget to look for the Gullyman Micro Cache further up the
trail.
Update (7/06): After recently dropping off some items in the cache
Nor found some fossilized chain coral & a fossilized shell in
the stream bed. Long ago Wisconsin was covered by a large inland
sea and there is some proof! Cool!
Update: (8/6/06): This cache was the starting point for the 2006
Green Jeep TB "Blue Bird Mesa". When placing this TB Ad found more
fossil shells!
