A 20-minute hike leads to a two-stage multi on the dramatic northwest coast of Texada Island. Dogs welcome.
The trailhead is reached by following an unmarked dirt road that starts on the west side of the main paved road 2.4 km south of the ferry landing in Blubber Bay at N49 46.822 W124 37.342 (just past telephone pole marked #116). The turnoff kind of sneaks up on you so if you are driving off the ferry it would probably be a good idea to let all the cars behind you pass once you get off the boat so you don’t hold anyone up looking for the road. There is a dip in the dirt road just after the turnoff that could be a problem for a low clearance car so it might be best to park right there. There is one fork in the road just past the turnoff; take the road to the right. Drive or walk 90 meters down the road and park in the open area at N49 46.736 W124 37.529.
To reach the first stage you follow a trail cleared by community volunteers. It is cleared, maintained and well marked with pink flagging tape but is not heavily used. The trail can be muddy in the winter and nettles make shorts and open toed shoes a mistake in the summer. No bushwhacking is involved but strollers won’t work. There are some rock bluffs near the ocean so young children should be supervised.
The first stage is a small clear sandwich size Lock and Lock containing a simple puzzle to find the coordinates for the second stage. The second stage is a green ammo box with logbook and trade items.
