The Road to Mt. Doom Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

geos of the jungle: Otis and I went out for a hike around the Acorn Trail this morning. We picked up all of the stages (including Smeagol and the final). Stage 4 was still there but we were never quite comfortable with the hide. We should've taken a page out of Bubba Riley's book and painted a rock blue.

We felt it was time to retire this cache. Thanks to all who took part in this adventure and for all the nice feedback. We'll keep all of the data and consider resurrecting The Road to Mt. Doom in another location some time in the future. Ciao (for now) from Frodo and his pals! [:D]

p.s. We're opening up all of the waypoints for viewing in case anyone is interested in following Gollum on a virtual tour of this cache's waypoints.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

A multi-stage cache on the Acorn Trail section of Great Brook Farm State Park (aka Middle-earth). This cache was set up as part of Bubba & Jonathan's A Puzzling Event .

The coordinates above are for Stage 1. All of the stages of this multi-cache are micro containers except the final.

Terrain note: Parts of the Acorn Trail can get quite muddy during certain times of the year.

*NOTE: All stages are within 15' of the main trail. There is no need to bushwhack beyond that. Due to past history of this cache we ask that you please use stealth when retrieving and replacing the containers. Also, please be careful to replace all of the containers (and any necessary camo) exactly as you found them.

Welcome Ring Bearer and fellowship,

Darkness has enveloped Middle-earth! The evil Sauron has returned to Mordor and is breeding massive armies of Orcs in preparation for a full-scale war against Men and Elves. You and your fellowship have been summoned here to this high council by the half-elven Lord of Rivendell, Elrond. He has learned that the One Ring is in your possession. The council has determined that the only way to restore peace to Middle-earth is to take the One Ring to Mordor and toss it into the depths of Mt. Doom where it was forged.

Fortunately for us you have a weapon that wasn't available during the Third Age, your gpsR! You must use this weapon wisely to help you navigate your way to Mt. Doom (a compass wouldn't hurt either ...*grin*). Park at the GBF Ski Touring parking area to begin your trek to the first micro. Coordinates for parking and the first micro are posted below. Inside the first micro you will find instructions on how to proceed.

So fare thee well fellowship! We hope you enjoy the journey and we wish you much success.
Happy Caching! -- geos of the jungle

p.s. Beware Gollum's two sides!

Congrats to terradactill, toothstock, and Teamhawaii1981 & blueicyrose for FTF! Nice team effort, ...and we enjoyed caching with all of you later that day!
