Geocache Description:

A very simple offset cache that is placed close to Salisbury along a path that runs near the rivers that pass by the Cathedral.

The cache can be approached from two suburbs of the City, Harnham (N 51º 03.862 W001º 48.966) or Lower Bemerton (N51º 04.348 W001º 49.193). Unfortunately its on street parking only; Harnham is the least congested.

Decide if you are walking from the Lower Bemerton end of the path or Harnham and then identify the co-ordinates from the information found locally. The co-ordinates at the top of the page have no relationship to the cache location, they are just a position that you will pass whilst walking towards the cache, irrespective of where you park. Broken bridges will take you on a level walk, but occasionally damp path past the water meadows close to the centre of Salisbury, watch out for the wild life. From wherever you start you will need to identify some numbers that are above head height on a pole.

Staring from Lower Bemerton (close to the Churchfields industrial Estate) identify the 3 numbers that follow DP at N51º 04.349 W001º 49.211; these are ABC and are to be used to find the cache which is at:

N 51º 04.0A(B+2) W001º 4(B+3).A9(B+C+1)

Alternatively starting at Harnham, look at the pole at N51º 03.858 W001º 49.008 you will see an A followed by 3 numbers immediately in front of the words Maximum Pole Loading, these are ABC (different to Bemerton); the cache you are looking for is at:

N 51º 0(A-1).0(B-1)(C-1) W001º 4C.(A-1)C(C-1)

For this walk the wearing of boots is advisable during the winter or following heavy rain. The difficulty rating is associated with tree cover and you may have to occasionally leave the path and get into the open to re-establish a fix. If you decide to look at the clue the rating reduces to 2* There will be no need to climb fences, the cache is very close to a footpath but be warned there is more than one path.

When you have completed this walk, why not visit one or two of the other close by Rosie & Co caches: GCK3D8 and GCVYGK.
